The need for air cargo security training
Since the introduction of more stringent Aviation Security regulations by the European Parliament following the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, Member States of the European Union (EU) have to ensure everything possible is done to deter and prevent attempts to place an explosive device, or any other item that can be used to endanger the safety of passenger or cargo carrying aircraft. The objective of air cargo security training is to ensure that all relevant personnel involved in the preparation of air cargo can apply a standardised level of preventative aviation security measures, in order to safeguard civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. The National Aviation Security Program (NASP) now has regulations that thousands of companies operating in the air cargo industry in the UK will have to comply with.
If your company is a:
-
Regulated Air Cargo Agent
-
Regulated Aircraft Operator
-
Regulated Known Consignor
-
Provider of agency / temporary staff to any of the above
Then you will have to comply with the National Aviation Security Program (NASP) and ensure that your staff are trained on their responsibilities when it comes to aviation security.
